About the Directors


Mike Mielniczek

Mike Mielniczek is a Director of Strategic China, which he set up with Kerry Brown in 2005. He was born in London, and received bachelor and masters degrees from London University. He first visited China in the 1980s, and set up one of the first UK-China joint ventures while based in Guangzhou, in the educational sector. From 1998 to 2000, he was First Secretary at the British Embassy in Beijing, and on his return to the UK was the head of the China Markets Unit at UKTI, responsible for trade relations between the UK and China. While there, he dealt directly with senior Chinese and British officials, and with the highest levels of British and Chinese companies. He was also responsible for the commercial elements of Prime Minister Tony Blair’s visit to China in 2004. He has attended many trade conferences in the UK and China. He is fluent in Chinese and Japanese.

Non Executive Directors

Mr Kang Baohua, Chairman of the Board of Yuanda, Shengyang, China, is one of China's most successful entrepreneurs, and ranked as in the top 300 of China's current wealthy. He started Yuanda, Shengyang's largest private enterprise, in the mid 1990's, and has expanded to employ over six thousand people, exporting lift equipment to the USA, Europe, and other parts of Asia. Mr Kang is Strategic China's advisor on the private sector in China.
